Although not always obvious, interior design is in many ways the star of the show. I'm in my element when I get to make plans that involve margins, typography, and a good baseline grid. I enjoy approaching design projects from different angles, and will tend to details that make the big picture look better.
SIBLINGS AND OTHER DISAPPOINTMENTS
Interior design for Siblings and Other Disappointments, a lonely and lovely short story collection from Ooligan Press. I was pleased to stumble upon a typeface that closely echoed the cover's hand-drawn aesthetic to carry out this stylistic sense of personal realism.
Cover-to-cover design of Portland Review, Spring 2017 Vol. 63, featuring Joanna Klink, Margaret Malone, Alexis M. Smith, Kevin Sampsell, Shayla Lawson, Mattew Zapruder, and an interview with Ursula K. Le Guin.
COOKING WITH THE CLASSICS
Cooking with the Classics: A Taste of the Literary Greats was created for an advanced InDesign class project, and quickly became a great excuse to come up with hilariously groan-worthy bookish puns.
LEAVING THE MIDDLE: MILES TRAVELED AND ROOTS REMEMBERED
An editorial layout featuring a personal essay on moving across the country.
FIRE FOR CLAY
Cover-to-cover design of my husband's novel, Fire for Clay.
HOME PARK TOOLKIT
Freelance design project for Oregon's Manufactured Home Park Solutions Collaborative, a state initiative to assist agencies responding to mobile home park closures and relocation. I created both print and interactive PDF versions of a toolkit document, addressing specific organizational layout needs with clean and creative design solutions.
