Hi, I’m Leigh. I’m a graphic designer who loves stories. Creative Leighway is my umbrella approach to design and often to life: where can I color outside the lines, see something in a new way, break the rules a little? Plus, I can’t resist a good (bad) pun.

I grew up in a family of artists where being bored was for the birds, and I’ve been dabbling in various creative projects ever since. Along with art, I’ve always loved the world of books. I did an English + design + writing combo track in college, and then spent a handful of years working in libraries before pursuing graduate studies. I got my master’s in book publishing from Portland State University, where I was the design manager for its affiliated Ooligan Press. I especially love book design, and am drawn to projects where words and pictures meet. I consider both the big idea and extra details to help make the given design dream a reality.

My Midwestern roots have happily taken to the lightly-drenched, coffee-fueled Portland, Oregon, where I now call home. I’m currently a Book Designer at Timber Press, and also love to keep myself involved in creative side-quests, from crafternoons and filling up notebooks to inventing new names for colors (purple + gray = space grape!). Check out my design portfolio pages, or take a peek at some of my recent work and play via instagram. You may also find me hiking, drinking coffee at night, or reading a weird/lovely book from my rainbow bookshelves.

let’s connect.
